Summer is hard working and always has a smile.

Here is Summer’s story!

I found Core Mobility Fitness on a google search after my orthopedic surgeon suggested I started Pilates to strengthen the muscles around my specific injuries. I am a competitive dressage (horse) rider who, while I’m not in the tack, am constantly working on my body as an athlete to further my progress. Cross training has been vital to my ability to function and support the high goals I have.

In 2015 I broke my back falling off a horse and it changed my life. A few years later, I also got a hip injury that limited my life as well.  It has been a journey of self-awareness and hard work to be “normal”. I’m surprised I found Pilates so far down my road but its better late than never!

A dressage riders entity is about balance and harmony. That includes a lot of poise and isolation of body parts to tell our horses exactly what we are asking. Just like in Pilates, you need to have positive tension and body control all while remaining relaxed and quiet. I almost immediately recognized how Pilates could help me specifically and I have gotten much stronger.

Yasmin has been a very influential teacher who has really taken the time to understand my goals, my bodies limitations, and she give me alternatives for some moves that possibly don’t work for me that day. The variations have helped me build up slowly and I can actually track the progress. Personally, I’ve always had a little fear of getting hurt of crossing my line with my body ailments but I have found the sweet spot in Yasmin’s classes and look forward to them. I always walk away feeling accomplished and a bit more confident. Thank you Yasmin and Core Mobility Fitness!

Here is how he got started!!

I was visiting an attorney in your building and saw the signage on the glass and wondered what it was. I stuck my head in and you informed me. I’d always been curious about Pilates.  You
proposed a complimentary men’s class that Friday. I expressed interest but was noncommittal. Had you not called me later that day, I probably would not have returned. So I started Pilates because of you.

What I “love” about Pilates is your studio. At the suggestion of a number people, I signed up for a 5 pack of classes at Club Pilates for a comparison. The quality of the instruction was good, but the atmosphere and studio were lacking, impersonal.  Also, I was looking for “something” that might help with lower back and sciatic issues. Pilates has helped.

You have fostered a warm, welcoming community vibe which I appreciate. All of the instructors are excellent and the variety of their teaching styles keeps things interesting. I want to give a shoutout to Yasmin as she teaches in the time slots I usually attend. I appreciate her calm, casual, warm demeanor as she pushes us.

I think more men don’t engage with Pilates and Yoga because the goals are less quantifiable. How much weight, how many reps, how fast, how far?  But the benefits are tangible.

This month we spotlight Lisa Cykela and MaryBeth Bordonaro!!

Meet Ricardo Portillo!!!!

Ricardo has been with me since before my youngest was born!

Here is what Ricardo has to say about his love for Pilates!

Pilates became my best friend after I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back around 2005. After bouncing around from multiple studios, local and abroad, I found Heather about 8 yrs ago, and I immediately felt the difference. Her passion, kindness, professionalism, and love for her clients inspires me to continue doing my practice. She also gently and lovingly pushes you to do that extra that brings sweat and “no more pls!”, but also a smile and a desire to keep going. Thanks Heather!

I love Ricardo because he always comes in with a smile! He brings so much joy to class everyday! Thank you Ricardo!

This month we spotlight Lisa Cykela and MaryBeth Bordonaro!!

These ladies have been with me since. Before Covid…..We think…(: none of us could remember, but they are amazing and wonderful and make me laugh all the time!

Lisa loves the Reformer class the most. She loves Pilates because it helps her stay fit!

Lisa says, “I definitely have seen an increase in strength and the ability to do more physically that I did before Pilates. Believe it or not, but I think my body looks better than before I did Pilates too!!!  At least that’s what my husband tells me..” (:

We love hearing that Lisa!!!! Pilates helps in all aspects of peoples lives! Brings smiles to faces, booties, and spouses! Yes!!!!

When I asked Lisa her favorite part about being a part of the CMF family she said, “being with others that desire good health, the family atmosphere, and the friends that I have made!”

MaryBeth had a hard time picking which class she loved the best, but decided that Anna’s Core Fusion class was the winner because she thinks she burns the most calories!

I have to say, Anna’s class is a burner for sure! If you have not tried the CoreFusion class, you should jump in!

“Pilates is my favorite workout and I have been doing it for over 10 years! I love the people and the feeling I get when I workout!”

When I asked Marybeth her favorite part of being with the CMF family, she said “you and the clients I get to be with!”

OMG!!! Thank you Marybeth….. You are the best!

They both just had Pilates babies!!!!!!!!!

Here is Clare!!!!

After struggling with back pain for the past 7 years, I was quite nervous about how my back would handle being pregnant again.  Thankfully I had been working with Heather for almost a year prior to getting pregnant and was able to regain my health.  I continued working with her up until I was 36 weeks pregnant and never had my back go out, had to take any pain medication, or make any modifications for back pain.  I was able to keep up with my older two kids, play tennis until my third trimester, and just have a good quality of life.

Clare and I will be collaborating on MamaCare Complete! It will be an online Mama program for all things pre and postnatal! Clare will be working on the nutrition side and I will be working on the core function! We are so excited and will keep you posted!!!!

Introducing Jill Janszen!

Jill was sent to us by a very dear client, Debbie Hilton! Thank you Debbie!

Jill is amazing! This is her first baby and she was a champ. She is beautiful, strong, and a small business owner! She will be busy, but we look forward to having her in class to help keep her sanity in check!

Not only did Pilates keep me in shape during pregnancy, it helped me prepare for birth! Now Pilates is helping get my pre-baby body back! It’s a beautiful workout that connects mind and body for me! It’s never too late to start!
